Apple’s co-founder and former CEO, Steve Jobs passed away on Wednesday. The visionary leader of Apple was 56 years old and had been battling various health issues including a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Apple announced Job’s passing away in a short statement on its Website late Wednesday night without giving a specific reason.

Steve Jobs AppleThe statement on the website said, “We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”

Sometime later his family released a statement saying that Steve had passed away peacefully in the company of his family. The family statement said “In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve’s illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories. We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief”.

Jobs had resigned from his position of Apple CEO earlier this August. His resignation letter said “I always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Tributes from all over the world poured in over the loss of the visionary genius that was Steve Jobs. President Barack Obama, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg mourned the loss of Jobs in their respective statements among others.

Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco to Joanne Simpson and Abdulfattah Jandali. Simpson gave Jobs up for adoption at that time. Clara and Paul Jobs of Los Altos, California adopted Steven. Jobs enrolled in Reed College in Portland, in 1972 but gave up studying after six months seeing no advantage in it.

Steve Jobs started Apple in his foster parent’s garage in 1976 with his high school friend named Steve Wozniak. Jobs saw great potential for Wozniak’s homemade computer and set upon building a portable computer which was ultimately called the Apple II and was widely heralded as a success.

Under the leadership of Jobs, Apples business flourished and the company released products and services like the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple App store and the iTunes music store. Now Apple is the most valued tech company in the world all thanks to Job’s efforts. He will be missed by all.

Here is one of my favorite speeches from the iconic leader.
