Playboy arrives on iPad May 2nd

Every Playboy issue will be available on the iPad starting May 2nd. That includes the first issue in 1953 to the most recent. It will be a web-based subscription service that will bypass Apple’s App Store due to restrictions on adult content.
The new service dubbed iPlayboy by Playboy’s founder, Hugh Hefner, will cost subscribers 8 dollars a month.
Here is what Hugh Hefner tweeted today:
iPlayboy–Uncensored Playboy will be available on iPad on May 2, every issue, for just $8 a month.
Hugh also tweeted in January that it would arrive in March but with a more specific date the service may finally arrive.
The service was also confirmed by Playboy spokesman Theresa Hennessey in January telling Fox news,
“We are releasing a web-based subscription service with Bondi Digital Publishing that will give users access to every issue of Playboy both past and present. The service will be iPad-compatible and will utilize iPad functions,” Hennessey said.
I don’t know how much interest there will be in a non-nide Playboy app but there are plans to create one, Hennessey stated, “also have plans to release a non-nude version of a Playboy-branded iPad app in the coming months that adheres to all of Apple’s policies and guidelines.”
