Over Three Million iPads Sold

Today, Apple announced that they have sold three millionth iPads in just 80 days. That averages out to about 37,500 units per day, or one iPad sold every two seconds.

Apple also announced there are now over 11,000 apps optimized for the iPad and it will run almost all of the more than 225,000 apps available.

The strong sales for the iPad have made it one of the fastest selling electronic devices in history. It does not appear sales will be slowing anytime soon. Apple plans to release the iPad in nine more countries in July and the iPad is expected to be a popular item for the holidays.

Apple shares closed at near an all time high at $274.86
