Over 23,000 Apps Optimized for iPad

As of today, there are 23,890 apps optimized for the iPad. Apple has divided the apps into 20 different categories, the largest categories are books and games.

There are now over 4,000 games for the iPad and many more designed for the iPhone but will work on the iPad.

Personally, I don’t care much for using the iPhone apps on my iPad. The double pixel method makes the apps blurry and it doesn’t make much sense to use the iPhone apps in single pixel mode, there’s just to much wasted screen space.

That’s why it’s nice to see the developers are still working hard to optimize apps for the iPad. These developers have already created a lot of high quality apps and due to the large screen size of the iPad, some of these apps would not be possible on the iPhone.

For instance, here are a couple of charts I created with the Numbers app on the iPad, that show the number of apps available in each category and the percentage of the category.
