Mercedes-Benz plans to distribute iPads to all 355 dealerships in the United States, after a “overwhelmingly positive” pilot program according to a report from Macworld.

The successful iPad pilot program involved 40 dealerships this summer, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its iPad program to all U.S. dealerships this fall. The dealerships should receive the iPads by the end of October.

During the pilot program, customers at the dealerships completed forms on the iPad right next to the new cars. The company’s goal was to minimize chances that customers would get cold feet during the final moments of the vehicle-buying process.

“The feedback was so positive we said, we need to push this out to all the dealers and take the financing process to a new level.” said vice president of marketing Andreas Hinrichs

Although the test program did not provide conclusive evidence that buyers are more willing to purchase a vehicle if they stay in the showroom, officials “seemed encouraged by the results,” the report noted.
