This is Apples new generation desktop. It is a redesigned tube machine, that everyone thinks looks like a garbage can.

We’ve had most of the details since June. It’s a hollow tube shape with a thermal-core center which will keep its components cool. The new unit has a smaller footprint and a motion-sensing feature that lights up its ports when you move behind the case.

It comes loaded with lots of goodies including a pair of AMD FirePro graphics cards standard, 6 Thunderbolt 2 ports, and an Intel Xeon E5 CPU with up to a dozen cores. It has 528GBs total bandwidth and up to 7 teraflops. This new unit will also have up to 1TB capacity. Apples new Mac Pro can handle up to three, 4K displays, and has single and dual-input displays. It supports HDMI 1.4, Bluetooth 4, 802.11ac, and USB 3.

According to Schiller it will be available “before the end of the year.” This is more energy efficient using 43 watts at idle vs. over the current Mac Pro at 160 watts, an energy savings of up to 70 percent. The newer model is quieter too at 12 dBA when idle.

Apple plans to release this in December for a starting price of $2,999.

The biggest point of note on this is that it will be assembled in the U.S. Kudos to Apple for bringing jobs back to this country.
