iPhone Event Set for Thursday

It’s only been a few days since the iPad went on sale and Apple is already announcing the iPhone OS 4.0 upgrade.

Gizmodo is reporting that Apple has sent out media invitations for a preview event scheduled for this Thursday, April 8th, to show off iPhone OS 4.0. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Pacific Time in the Town Hall on Apple’s Cupertino, California campus.

Most people are expecting new multi-touch gesture support, multitasking, and a user interface refresh. Multitasking seems to be widely expected with the 4.0 OS upgrade. Other rumored features include a unified inbox for multiple email accounts and the ability to place contacts directly on the home screen.

The upgrade will be free for iPhone customers and iPad customers will get the 4.0 OS upgrade at no charge.
