iOS 6 will be available to the public on September 19


The official public release date for iOS 6 is tomorrow! The public release date was revealed at the iPhone event on September 12th. iOS 6 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3 (the new iPad), and the fourth & fifth generation iPod touch.

iOS 6 includes over 200 new features. Here are a few of the major ones:

  • New version of Maps with turn by turn directions
  • Improvements to Siri
  • Facebook integration
  • Shared photo streams
  • Passbook
  • FaceTime over cellular
  • New calling features add to the iPhone
  • Improvements to the Mail app
  • iCloud tabs and other improvements to Safari
  • Guided Access
  • Panorama feature added to the camera app
  • Redesigned iTunes and App store on iOS devices

Warning: Users with jailbroken devices should wait until an untethered jailbreak for your device is released before upgrading to the new software, if you want your device to remain jailbroken.
