Do Sales Indicate a New Release From Apple is in our Future?

With the recent price drop on iPad 2 at some of the big retailers such as Walmart and Target, some people are wondering if there is a new Apple announcement pending. Does this mean that the stores know something we don’t and are they trying to clear out their old stock to make way for new? Will we see a new release from Apple?
Some reports are claiming that this could be a sign that the iPad Air 2 may be in the near future. We don’t know much about this speculated unit, we’ve just heard rumors that Apple is working on a tablet/noteboard hybrid that might possibly run on the Mac OS X system. Rumors say that they want to use these new tablets to get a better foothold in the business world so they can compete against the Microsoft Surface Pro.
There is possibility of a release announcement during the Apple June event, it would not be unheard of, after all the release of the iPad 4 was announced at a June event. We do know that Apple needs to do something, after all the hype and anticipation the iPad Air has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment in terms of processing speed with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 outperforming it. Many have also been looking for a release with a better camera and the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor that has proven so popular on the iPhone 5S.
Are these sale prices at Walmart and Target indicative of anything by Apple? I don’t really thing so, I think it is the two giants, once again attempting to slug it out for sales. After all, both price drops are only temporary. This is still however, the hope that we will still see something new from Apple in June.
