Atari has teamed up with Discovery Bay Games to create their own official iPad arcade adapter, calling it the Arcade Duo-Powered Joystick. The iPad accessory adds a joystick to the device that works with some of Atari’s classic games. It does not require batteries, you simply dock your iPad into the 30-pin connector on the device and play.

The Atari Joystick is made to work with Atari’s Greatest Hits app, which comes with one free game. More game packs can be purchased for $0.99 or all 100 games can be purchased for $14.99. Since other apps do not support the joystick it is limited to only Atari games.

The Atari Arcade Joystick comes after the somewhat successful iCade gaming cabinet. Both accessories work with Atari’s Greatest Hits app but iCade uses bluetooth to connect to the iPad and requires batteries.

The iCade gaming cabinet retails for $100 and the Atari Joystick will go on sale for $60 starting October 2nd.
