The new TV show streaming feature gives users access to previously purchased TV shows even if they are not downloaded to your iTunes library. As long as you are logged in your the account that made the purchase, you can stream the previously purchased episodes directly from Apple’s servers.

This is basically cloud-based storage for TV shows, movies should be next.

To update your Apple TV to the latest software, go to Settings -> General -> Update Software and follow the directions.
