Apple releases iOS 5.1 to developers

Apple has just released iOS 5.1 beta to developers, along with a beta version of XCode 4.3. We are not sure of everything that will be added in iOS 5.1 but we expect it to address battery draining issues, improvements to Siri (iPhone 4S) and address other bugs with iOS 5.

According to 9to5Mac, the beta version of iOS 5.1 has revealed a new iPad product id. The new product id found is “iPad2,4”, suggesting a possible addition to the current iPad 2 line.

The current iPads are referred to as the following;

iPad2,1 – Wi-Fi iPad
iPad2,2 – AT&T iPad 2
iPad2,3 – Verizon iPad 2

It’s likely that “iPad2,4” is referring to an iPad 2 for Sprint’s network but we don’t know when Apple plans on launching the tablet with Sprint compatibility.
