With the announcement of the iPhone 4S on yesterdays “Let’s Talk iPhone” event, Apple has left mostly everyone disappointed. It was widely being touted by the world’s media that this event would see the new iPhone 5 being launched for the world to see. Add to this that the iPhone 4S looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4 and that doesn’t compute together to make a very nice statement. But all hope is not lost as this new iPhone packs some nifty features that might induce iPhone 4 users to upgrade. Apple has added a 64 GB storage capacity model which extends the Apple iPhone 4S line up to 3 models. Apple also included the new A5 dual core 1 GHz processor with a dual core GPU. The people at Apple say that this new chipset will make this new iPhone 4S twice as fast and will make the graphics performance up to seven times faster as compared to the iPhone 4. Despite the added power hungry processor and GPU the makers say that the user will be able to get 8 hours of talk time over 3G, up to 14 hours over 2G, 40 hours of music playback, 6 hours of browsing over 3G, 9 hours via Wi-Fi and 10 hours video playback. But all these times are to be verified in tests as manufacturer claims are mostly for show but if these above given timelines are to be believed and even with the new processor this iPhone 4S manages to deliver such battery times then it’s all for the best. iPhone 4SAll through the event the feature that Apple most talked about was the voice assistant named “Siri”. This new voice assistant does not outright replace the voice control feature; rather it follows commands given by the user and delivers information. The user can ask questions like the weather situation, a contacts address or set up an appointment somewhat odd questions like the height of Mount Everest. This feature can be accessed by holding down the home button. The iPhone 4S gets an all new 8 mega pixel camera with autofocus, flash, f/2.4 aperture lens and a backside-illuminated CMOS. A hybrid IR filter is also on-board. Apple claims the new camera performs 33 percent faster than the iPhone 4’s camera. There is also the ability to shoot 1080p video at 30 fps and video stabilization to go with it. The iPhone 4S is a world phone which means it supports both CDMA and GSM. The iPhone 4S goes on sale October 14 from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint in the US and will be available for preorder on October 7; It will be available in black and white and the pricing starts at $199 for the 16GB version, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB with a two-year contract.
