How to Get a Refund from the App Store in 3 Easy Steps

You downloaded an app from the app store in iTunes. You want to know whether you can get a refund. Here are the criteria you must meet to get a refund from the iTunes Store for an app purchase:

1. Your application is corrupt or will not download (solution for apps stuck waiting, not downloading can be found here)

2. Your application doesn’t perform akin to the iTunes description

3. Your application does not suit your needs because of your geographical location

Unfortunately, these are the only reasons you can receive a refund. Some people have had success obtaining a refund for an accidental purchase, but this is not likely. To obtain a refund, please follow the following steps precisely for your best chance to get your money back.

Step 1: Locate the e-mail that contains your iTunes Store receipt.

The subject of this e-mail is likely to be: Your receipt No. #########

The sender will be: [email protected]

Step 2: Around the middle of the page, you will see the Item you purchased, seller, type, and unit price. Under the name of the item, there are two options: “write a review” and “report a problem.” Click Report a Problem.

Step 3: A webpage will open and the Report a Problem window will open. Click the problem drop-down menu and choose which best describes your problem. Also, add comments to ensure that you adequately explain your situation and for a quicker resolution. Apple should respond within 48 hours. Often, Apple gives a “one-time exception” meaning you can make a purchase mistake once, but not many times. Keep that in mind.

That’s it! You have successfully submitted a refund to Apple. Now keep your cool and don’t get too upset if they do not refund your purchase, because iTunes Store Terms and Conditions state that ‘All sales and rentals are final’.

    Hi I just purchased a t.v season 26 of Simpsons on my iPad but ran out of mg I want my full refund.

    I purchased DJVu reader but it does not work (does not open any DJVu files I already have). I tried to contact an app customer service but their web page has en Error 404 message. I wont my money back because app does not work. Thanks.
