How to Use the Videos App on iPhone 7 or iPad Air

If you are residing in the U.S., the Videos app has already been replaced by the TV app. However, for all people outside the United States, the only way to enjoy TV shows and iTunes Movies is through the Videos app. This article will show you all you need to learn about it!

The Videos App: How to Browse Videos

When you buy movies, music videos, or TV shows from iTunes Store, all your purchases are found in the Videos App. Here, you can search for your compilations and watch your videos. If available, there are control features such as descriptive audio, closed captions and subtitles.  To browse the videos that you purchased from iTunes:

Step 1: From your iPhone 7 or iPad Air Home screen, open the Videos app.

Step 2: There are four categories that you can choose from. Select the category tab of the video that you want to watch. You can choose from:

• Movies
• Rentals
• TV Shows
• Music Videos

Step 3: Select the title of the video that you want to watch. You will see the information about the video that you picked, such as plot summary, casts, and more.

How to Show iTunes Purchases in Videos App

You can download and stream videos directly in the Videos app. If you made a lot of purchases, but not downloads due to the limited storage space, you would want to ensure that you can see all the video titles available for you. To see all the purchases you made:

1. From Home screen, open the Settings
2. Select Videos.
3. Scroll down and look for Show iTunes Purchases. Toggle on the switch next to it.

How to Stream and Download Purchased Videos

If you want to watch a movie or shows that you purchased, but you do not have enough space to download it on your iPhone 7 or iPad Air, you can just stream the video from the Videos app. All your purchased files that are not downloaded on your iOS device will show a small cloud icon.

Step 1: From your iPhone 7 or iPad Air Home screen, open the Videos app.

Step 2: Select from Movies, Rentals, TV Shows or Music Videos.

Step 3: Select the title of the video you wish to stream.

Step 4: Tap the content to start streaming.

If you want to download your purchased videos on your iPhone 7 or iPad Air, or when you already have enough space, simply tap the iCloud icon next to the content.

How to Change the Starting Point of Videos

You have the option to change the starting point of your videos, whether you want to start them where you left them off or from the beginning.

Step 1: From Home screen, open the Settings app.

Step 2: Select Videos and tap Start Playing.

Step 3: You have two options: From Beginning and Where Left Off. Simply choose the option according to your preference.

• From Beginning – This option means that the video will start from the beginning every time you stream or play it.
• Where Left Off – This option means that the video will start from the same time you last watched the content.

How to Enable Subtitles, Audio Descriptions or Closed Captions

With only few taps, you can access different audio options available in most TV shows and movies you purchased from iTunes Store.

Step 1: From Home screen, open the Videos app.

Step 2: Select the category tab of the media you wish to watch. The categories are: Movies, Rentals, TV Shows and Music Videos.

Step 3: Select the title of the video or movie that you wish to view.

Step 4: Tap the name of the content, then tap anywhere on the screen to open the playback controls.

Step 5: Tap the alternate track button from the bottom right corner. This looks like a small speech bubble.

Step 6: Select the option that you need: subtitle, closed captions, or audio description.

Step 7: Once finished, tap Done.

How to Watch Videos on Apple TV

You can always watch your videos to any Apple TV by using AirPlay.

Step 1: From Home screen, open the Videos app.

Step 2: Select the video that you want to AirPlay.

Step 3: Open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Tap the AirPlay button.

Step 5: Select the Apple TV where you want to view your video.

There, you can enjoy your videos on bigger screen.

To Delete Videos from iPhone 7 or iPad Air

You can always delete your downloaded videos to make new space for new ones or for other important matter.

1. From Home screen, open the Videos
2. Tap the Edit
3. Search for the video that you wish to delete.
4. Tap the X button and tap Delete.

Even if you delete your videos on your iPhone 7 or iPad Air, all your purchases are still available in iCloud. You can always download it back to any of your iOS device.
