How to Use the TV app on iPhone 7 or iPad Air
The TV app is one of the hot entertainment apps. It is designed to be your one-stop store for getting your movies, TV shows and other videos. With TV app, there is no need to open multiple apps just to look for a good movie or series to watch.
If you also have Apple TV, you can take your watching experience to the next level. But even if there is no Apple TV available, you can still enjoy all the benefits and features that the TV app has to offer.
Before we begin: The TV app is only available in the U.S. in iOS.2 or later. If you do not have TV app, you can see your collections in the Videos app. If you are using the same Apple ID for your other iOS devices with TV app, all the changes to the setting will be applied to all your devices.

Store Tab in TV App
This tab allows you to install apps that are compatible with TV app. You can also browse for the latest shows or movies through the Store tab. Some apps that support the TV app include AMC, CBS, Discovery GO, FOXNOW, Hallmark, HBO NOW, Hulu, MTV, SHOWTIME, Starz, TLC GO, Travel Channel, VH1 and more.
When you already find the app that you want to install on your iPhone 7 or iPad air, simply tap Get button to start your download and installation.
Search Tab in TV App
You can use the Search tab for finding movies or TV shows by title, cast, or crew. It is the easiest way to get exactly what you need. Simply tap the Search tab and enter the title of the TV show or movie that you are looking for. You can also use this section for browsing the latest movies or shows.
Renting or buying movies, shows or other content is now easier as there is no need to close app.
Watch Now Tab in TV App
The TV app offers Watch Now feature, which stores all the shows that you just watched. For example, you are watching a movie or show from a service that supports TV app (like CBS or Hulu). It will be automatically stored in the Watch Now section.
If you just finished an episode of any show, the next episode will be displayed in your list. Simply tap the title of the movie or show that you want to view and it will automatically launch the corresponding app.
Library Tab in TV App
When you open the TV app, you will see the Library section where you can browse all your purchased or rented TV shows and movies from iTunes. In the TV app Library, you can look for your media by: TV shows, Movies, Downloaded, Recently Purchased and Genres. Once you are ready to view something, all you have to do is to tap the Play button and you can watch immediately.
You can watch the shows or movies that you purchased offline if you have downloaded it on your iPhone 7 or iPad Air. To see all the media that you downloaded, tap the Downloaded tab under Library. Select a TV show or movie that you want to watch and it will automatically play it using the Videos app.
How to turn “Up Next” on or off
If you want to clean up the history of your TV app on iPhone 7 or iPad air, you can easily turn it off.
- From your iOS device Home screen, open Settings app. Tap TV and toggle off Up Next.
- On Apple TV, open Settings, go to Apps and select Turn off Up Next.
After turning the Up Next off, your viewing history will not sync with your other devices.
How to Remove Content from Certain Apps
- From your iOS device Home screen, open Settings app. Tap TV and select the app which you want to clear. Choose Remove, or Remove and Clear Play History.
- On Apple TV, open Settings, go to Apps and select Select the app which you want to clear. Choose Remove, or Remove and Clear Play History.
How to Clear Play History on iPhone and Apple TV
If you want to clear play history, you can easily do so by following these steps:
- From your iOS device Home screen, open Settings app. Tap TV and tap Clear Play History.
- On Apple TV, open Settings, go to Apps and select Tap Clear Play History.
