The Health app allows you to store your fitness and health data in just one place. It is very useful in keeping your body healthy as it can track your daily activities, such as cycling, walking and sleeping. It can also display heart rate, blood pressure, and other data so you can watch your diet efficiently. This app also became more advanced in iOS 10. It now comes with better user-interface, improved tabs, enhanced Today section and visual overhaul. Here are the tips to use Health app on iPhone 7 Plus, iPad, and iPod.

Here are the tips on how to use health app on iPhone so you can maximize its efficiency. Make sure that you also get the latest version of iOS to get the newest features of Health app.

Set Up Health Information

From Home screen and open Health app. If you have not set up your information, simply enter your information in the field.  You can also create Medical ID, which will provide medical information about you in case of emergency. After entering your information, you will see Health Data, Today, Sources, and Medical ID at the bottom of the screen.

Step 1: Tap Health Data and select the Activity category.

Step 2: Download one of the recommended apps to get started. These apps will collect your information for Activity category.

Step 3: After installation, open the app that you downloaded and set it up.

Step 4: Go back to Health app and tap Sources from the bottom of the screen.

Step 5: Select the app that you just downloaded. Turn all categories on.

You can download more recommended health and fitness apps if you like. You can see your health data according to the category.

How to Manually Enter Health Data

If you want to enter your health data manually, follow these steps:

Step 1: From home screen, open Health app.

Step 2: Tap Health Data and select a category, like Body Measurements.

Step 3: Tap a data, like Height.

Step 4: Tap the + button on the top right corner.

Step 5: Enter your data in the field and tap Add when you are done.

You can also set up your BT heart rate monitor by using Bluetooth to pair it with your iPhone, iPad or iPod. The information from your BT heart rate monitor will be sent to Health app automatically. To see your health data from BT heart rate monitor, tap Health Data and select Vitals.

How to Track Your Bedtime

You can track your bedtime using the Clock app. It will alert you when it is time for you to sleep, and will make an alarm when you have to wake up. To set up Bedtime:

  1. From home screen, open the Clock
  2. Select Bedtime and tap Get Started. Set how many hours you want to sleep and the time you want to wake up.
  3. Tap Save once you are done.

You can see the information from bedtime by opening the Health app and select Sleep category.

How to Check Daily Progress

You can easily see your data from the Today section.

Step 1: Open Health app and tap Today from the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Scroll to view your health information.

Step 3: You can also check your health data from a different day by selecting the date on the given calendar.

Step 4: You can view more details by tapping on a metric, like Steps. You can also choose from Day, Week, Month, or Year.

To make your metric appear on top of the Today screen, add it to your Favorites.

How to Import Your Health Record

If you have health records, such as lab results, immunizations, medications and more, you can import and store it in your Health app. You should first have your health record as a ZIP or XML file. To import your health record, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the app or website of your healthcare provider and log in.
  2. Look for your health record.
  3. Tap the Share This button looks like a square with an arrow pointing on top.
  4. Select Add to Health.

To open your health record in Health app:

  1. From home screen, open Health
  2. Tap Health Data and select Health Records.
  3. Select the health record that you want to see.

How to Allow Viewing of Medical ID in Case of Emergency

In case of emergency, you can allow your Medical ID to be accessed from Lock screen. To turn this on:

  1. Open Health app and tap Medical ID.
  2. Tap Edit on the top right corner.
  3. Turn on Show When Locked.
