How to Fix Bluetooth Not Working on iPhone or iPad

Before we proceed to the solutions to fix Bluetooth not working on iPhone 7 or iPad, make sure that your Bluetooth is on and that your iDevice is close to the Bluetooth device that you want to pair it with. Make sure that you are not very close to your home’s Wi-Fi router or USB ports as these can interfere Bluetooth connection.

If your iPhone 7 or iPad is recently paired with your other device, make sure that you turn that device off as well as other devices that have Bluetooth enabled.

1. Turn Bluetooth Off and On

The easiest way to fix Bluetooth not working issue on iPhone 7 or iPad is by turning it off and on. Simply wait for a few seconds before you turn it back on.

  • To turn it off and on, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off. Wait for a few seconds before you tap it again.
  • Alternatively, you can go to Settings app and tap Bluetooth. Tap the switch to turn it off and on.

2. Turn Wi-Fi and Airplane Mode On and Off

  • To turn on and off Wi-Fi, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn it on and turn it off again.
  • If turning Wi-Fi on and off did not work, you can turn on and off Airplane Mode. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center and tap the Airplane Mode icon to turn it on and off.

3. Restart iPhone 7 or iPad and Bluetooth Accessory

  • To restart your iOS device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears. Drag the slider to turn your iPhone 7 or iPad off. Turn your device on by pressing Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  • After restarting your iOS device, make sure that you also restart the Bluetooth accessory you want to pair it with.

4. Perform Hard Reset

If restarting your device is not helpful, you can try performing a hard reset.

  • Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button together until the Apple logo appears. Wait for your device to restart on itself.
  • Once your iPad or iPhone 7 is back on, go to Settings app and select Bluetooth. Toggle it off and wait for a few seconds before you turn it back on.

5. Forget Bluetooth Accessory

6. Get the Latest Version of iOS

If you have not updated your iPhone 7 or iPad to the latest iOS 10.0 version, issues like Bluetooth not working can occur. Make sure that you have installed the latest operating system.

  • Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and make sure that you have enough battery.
  • Go to Settings app, tap General and Select Software Update.
  • If there is an update available, tap Install Now.

7. Reset Network Settings

  • Open Settings app and select General.
  • Tap Reset and select Reset Network Settings.
  • Tap Reset Network Settings again to confirm.

8. Reset All Settings

  • Go to Settings app and tap General. Scroll down and select Reset.
  • Select Reset All Settings. Simply enter your passcode and tap Reset All Settings again to confirm.

If this solution did not work, you can try to select Erase All Content and Settings under Reset All Settings. Just make sure that you create backup first before you proceed.

9. Restore iPhone 7 or iPad to Factory Settings

If all solutions above did not work, you may have to restore your iOS device to factory settings. To do this:

  • Open iTunes on your Mac or Computer.
  • Connect your iOS device using USB cable and select the name of your device when it appears on iTunes.
  • Click Restore iPhone 7 or Restore iPad in the summary panel.
