With so many accounts that we have, we sometimes tend to forget some of our passwords or e-mail address. This happens even to the best of us. If you cannot remember your Apple ID account or password and you didn’t save it to private Notes or password manager, we are aware of how huge this problem can be! Whether you need to make purchases from App Store or create a backup in iCloud, you will need to sign in using your Apple ID. This article will show you how to reset Apple ID password or recover your account.

Reset Apple ID Password using Security Questions or Email

If you forget your Apple ID password, you can easily reset it with the instructions given by Apple. If you remember your verified email or your secondary verified email, you can receive the instructions through mail. In addition, if you set up a security question during your sign up process, you can also reset your Apple ID by answering the question.

Step 1: Open your favorite browser and go to http://iforgot.apple.com.

Step 2: Enter your Apple ID or email address.

Step 3: Click or tap My Password and select Next.

Step 4: Select Get an Email to receive Apple’s instructions to your email so you can reset Apple ID password. Alternatively, you can select Answer Security Questions to reset Apple ID password right away on your screen.

Note: If you are using security questions, make sure that only you or someone you trust know the answer. You may include random numbers to keep your answer safe. There are apps that can store all your passwords for you. You can also write your password on your notebook and keep them in your drawer.

How to Reset Apple ID Password with Two-Factor Authentication

You can get a new Apple ID password using 2-factor authentication. If you are using two-factor authentication, you can reset or change the password from your trusted iPhone or iPad. Simply follow these instructions to recover and reset your password.

1. Open Safari or your preferred browser and navigate to http://iforgot.apple.com.
2. Enter your Apple ID or email address.
3. Click or tap Next and enter your trusted phone number or reset from another device.
4. Click or tap Next and select Use trusted phone number.
5. Click Next and select Start Account Recovery.

How to Reset Apple ID Password with Two-Step Authentication

If you are still using the Apple’s old way of authentication system or the 2-Step authentication, you can use it to recover and reset your Apple ID password. Follow these simple instructions to retrieve or reset your password.

1. Open Safari or your preferred browser and navigate to http://iforgot.apple.com.
2. Tap Enter your Apple ID to start and enter your Recovery Key.
3. Tap Next and select Recovery device available.
4. Tap Next and enter the verification code.
5. To finish, tap Next. You can now make a new Apple ID password. Do not forget to save it to your password manager or write it on your notebook so you would not have to recover your password again in the future.

Forgot Apple ID?

If you cannot remember the email that you are using for your Apple ID, you can recover it also from Apple. To do this:

1. Open Safari or your preferred browser and navigate to http://iforgot.apple.com.
2. Click or tap Forgot Apple ID.
3. Enter your first name and last name in the field.
4. Enter your email address (if this is your Apple ID, it will tell you) or other email addresses that you have probably used before.
5. Tap Next and select Reset by Email. Apple will immediately send you instructions to recover your Apple ID in the recovery email address that provided. Alternatively, select Answer Security Questions so you can directly reset your Apple ID. Apple will look for the Apple ID linked to your email addresses so you can get your ID using email or security questions.

That’s it! You can now continue making purchases in App Store or iTunes and save files in iCloud. Even if you forget your Apple ID or your password, you can easily retrieve or reset it with these easy steps. Hopefully, you would not have to do it again.
