How to Move Data from Android to iPhone 7 or iPad Air 2
If you just purchased a new iOS device and you want to transfer your data from your Android to iPhone 7 or iPad Pro, including accounts, bookmarks, passwords, photos, videos and contacts, you can easily do it with the Move to iOS app. It does not include the apps though, as they are not compatible. You will need to download and install your important apps in your iOS device.
The transfer of files and data from Android devices to iOS devices works only if you are running iOS 9 or higher. That includes your new iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, iPad Pro, iPhone 6 or iPhone SE. Other devices are:
- iPad 2
- iPad 3rd Gen
- iPad 4th Gen
- iPad mini and iPad mini 2
- iPad Air and iPad Air 2
- iPad Pro and iPad Pro 9.7
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5, 5c and 5s
- iPod touch 5th gen
As long as your device is running iOS 9 or higher, you can transfer your data from Android to iPhone or iPad.
How to Transfer Files and Data from Android to iPhone or iPad
Transferring your data from your Android to iPhone or iPad is as easy as a child’s play. This guide will show you the step-by-step instruction so you can successfully transfer your photos and videos, bookmarks, contacts, accounts and passwords from your old to new device.
Before we begin, make sure that both devices are connected to Wi-Fi so you can transfer your data using the Move to iOS app.
Step 1: Follow the onscreen instructions on your new iPhone or iPad to set it up.
Step 2: Once you reach the Apps & Data screen, select the option Move Data from Android.
Step 3: On your Android device, open Google Play Store and install Move to iOS app.
Step 4: Accept the permissions request. Then, tap Open after the installation.
Step 5: Tap Continue on both Android and iOS devices.
Step 6: Tap Agree. On your Android device, tap Next.
Step 7: A code will appear on your iPhone or iPad. Enter the code on your Android device to continue. Once you entered the code, your Android phone or tablet will automatically connect to your new iPhone or iPad.
Step 8: Select the data that you want to transfer to your new iPhone, such as Google Account, Bookmarks, Messages, Contacts and Camera Roll.
You can select all the options and your Android device will transfer your data to your iPhone or iPad. All content will be placed into their corresponding apps.
You will see the percentage of data transferred on your screen and wait for it to finish before closing the app or switching to other apps. Keep both devices connected to Wi-Fi and connect your devices to power if the batteries are running low. The transfer process will depend on how much data you have on your Android device.
Once the transfer is finished, tap Continue Setting Up iPhone or iPad on your new iOS device. Follow the instructions onscreen and set up an Apple ID or enter an existing account. For new Apple ID, simply follow the process and enter your information.
After you finish the setup process, you will be asked to log in to your accounts that you just transferred from your Android phone or tablet.
You can now install apps on your iOS device that were not transferred due to compatibility. From Home screen, open the App Store. Then, search for apps that you need to install, such as:
- Google Drive
- Google Sheets
- Google Calendar
- Google Photos
- Google Play Music
- Google Sheets
One you are done, you are ready to use your new iPhone 7 or iPad Pro and you just saved a lot of time as you do not have to enter your data one by one.
If you are also using an Android Wear (LG Watch Urbane), Google just announced that it now works with iPhone as well. You can easily see your notifications, reminders, messages, follow your fitness goals, track your workouts and check phone calls. This allows you to save time and you can also command your smart watch by simply saying “Ok Google” and you can ask questions like “Is it going to be sunny tomorrow?” or make a reminder such as “Remind me to call Louisa.”
Hopefully, this guide helps you in getting started with your new iPhone 7 or iPad Pro without having to start all over again from the beginning.
