Solution to iTunes Error 1 While Restoring iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1.1
Errors that are mostly encountered by iPhone4S users are the annoying iTunes Errors, such as Error 1. These errors are usually encountered by jailbreak users when restoring, downgrading or jailbreaking their devices. There are many iTunes error at bay. iTunes Error 1 appears to indicate that there is a problem with the hardware. Step 2: Make sure that the host files are checked in the following directories: Windows – System32 – Driver – etc – host.
Step 3: Open the host file in Notepad as administrator and check if gs.apple.com xx.xx.xx.xx has #.
