How to set up your iPad in iTunesHow to set up your iPad in iTunes
This is a tutorial showing how to set up a iPad using iTunes 10.5 on a Mac. This tutorial will also work for Windows since the iTunes interface is almost identical on a PC.
To get started, plug your iPad into your computer, open iTunes, and select the iPad under “Devices” on the left.
iTunes Summary Page
The Summary page should be the first page you see after you plug your iPad into your computer, iTunes opens and you select your iPad on the left under Devices. Here you can update your iPad to the latest iOS software or restore the device. Restoring can be helpful if you are having problems with your iDevice.
It’s a good idea to sync and back up your iPad before restoring. You should be prompted to do so after clicking Restore.
Restoring will reinstall the latest software, you can then set the device up as new or restore from a previous backup .
You also have several options to choose from. Wireless syncing is now one of the options with iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. The defaults are selected in the photo, choose the appropriate options and then select the Info tab at the top.
Note: Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC and Prefer standard definition videos are aimed at saving space on your device.
The next page will cover the Info section.
