Walmart releases an iPad app and updates iPhone app
Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has unveiled new apps for the iPad and the iPhone that offer a much improved experience for shopping on your touch screen devices. This well timed release comes ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The iPad app makes it easy for shoppers to browse online inventory and find out if items are available at their local stores. The app allows you to purchase items in your cart or save the items to purchase later. You can also get directions to the closest store that has the item(s) in stock.
There has been a Walmart app available for the iPhone for a while but it will soon receive an update with several new features including; a scanner, shopping lists by voice, typing or scanning, coupons, and more.
iPad Features
Touch-optimized shopping: Browse, search and purchase favorite items by combining traditional ways of shopping with the unique capabilities of the iPad.
Find What You’re Looking For — Easily swipe through items, photos, reviews and product details. Tap “Location” to learn if an item is available at nearby stores and see those stores on a map. Narrow your search with helpful refine and sort tools.
Browse My Store: Select any local Walmart store to see product availability and detailed information specific to that store.
Extended inventory: Shop and purchase Walmart.com merchandise in addition to viewing local store inventory.
Find Nearby Stores – Heading out of town? See which Walmart stores are nearby and quickly get driving directions to any store you choose.
Shop Our Rollbacks – Swipe through our Rollbacks to save even more on already low prices.
Buy Now or Save For Later – Sign in to see the items you added to your Cart on Walmart.com. Placing an order on Walmart for iPad is a piece of cake. Not ready to buy? Simply save your items for later.
Updated iPhone Features
Voice: Add items to shopping list by speaking, typing or scanning bar codes.
Budgeting tools: Calculate total price in real-time as specific items are added to mobile shopping lists.
Manufacturer’s coupons: View applicable manufacturer coupons for products carried in local Walmart stores.
Product information: Access product details, including customer ratings and reviews, as well as local product availability and prices.
Sharing: Email shopping list to friends and family.
Store Item Finder beta: Display in-store aisle location of products in select stores across the country.
The iPad app is now available for free through Apple’s App Store, and the updated iPhone app will be available soon.
