It’s evident that many publishers are not happy giving Apple a 30% cut of their subscription revenue. Amazon, Vudu and others, have created web apps that offer a similar experience to native apps from the App Store.

The Financial Times has now taken the same approach to bypass the App Store, eliminating the need to share profits with Apple.

The native FT app has been removed from the US App Store, apparently due to the the Financial Times refusing to agree to Apple’s subscription rules.

FT states the new web app is faster and more complete than the app from Apple’s App Store. To try the new web app, go to http://app.ft.com/ in the browser of your mobile device. FT offers some free access but for full access to all the articles, it’s still $4.99 a week.
