Apple releases four new apps today

Today, Apple rolled out iOS 5 and along with it three new apps for the iPad and a fourth one for the iPhone. The three apps that are optimized for the iPad include; iTunes Movie Trailers, Find My Friends and AirPort Utility. All three of these apps are Free and universal, meaning they work on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Apple also released Cards for the iPhone but did not release a version of the Cards app for iPads.

Here’s a quick look at the apps Apple released today.

iTunes Movie Trailers

iTunes Movie Trailers allows you to browse hundreds of movie trailers and behind the scene clips for some of the biggest films and cinema. The app includes an interactive, year-long release calendar that helps you plan when you’ll be going to the theaters.

The app also has top charts to view the most downloaded trailers, box office rankings, and top movies on iTunes to buy or rent.

Find My Friends

Find My Friends enables users to locate your friends and family from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

To add a friend, you must send a request to see their location. Your friend will need to have the Find My Friends app installed on their iOS Device as well. After your friend accepts your request, you will be able to see that friend’s location on a list or on a map.

You also have the option to only share your location for a limited time.

AirPort Utility

AirPort Utility lets users manage their Wi-Fi network and AirPort base stations, including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. The app gives you the ability to change base station and network settings, or manage advanced features such as security modes, wireless channels, and more.

Cards

The new Cards app from Apple lets you create and mail beautifully crafted cards personalized with your own text and photos on your iPhone or iPod touch.

You can choose from 21 designs and customize your card with a personal message and photo. Then your card can be sent to any address in the world.

U.S. customers can send a card anywhere in the U. S. for $2.99, including postage.
A card can be sent anywhere else in the world for $4.99, including postage.
