One of the biggest bugs I have found with the iPad so far, is occasionally the iPad is unable to rejoin my Wi-Fi network.

I have tried some suggestions from Apple and the only way I have been able to get the iPad to rejoin the network is to reset my wireless router.

I would recommend you try to reset the network settings on the iPad first by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If that doesn’t work reset your wireless router. Most of them have a reset button you hold for 10 seconds.

If you have a dual band router you can try this to keep the problem from recurring;

  • Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name.  Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.
  • Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on).

Apple has acknowledged the Wi-Fi problems and has a knowledge base article with some recommendations. They have also stated that there will be a software update addressing this issue.

One Response to iPad Wi-Fi Issues

    I cannot access my email on my iPad. I have 2 email providers, BlueTie and Yahoo and while both open the sign in page, neither will open email on iPad. Both open on other computers perfectly. While experiencing these problems, I AM able to access many different internet sites through iPad, so it doesn’t appear to be a network issue.

    After signing in on BlueTie I get a “system error” message, and after signing in on Yahoo, the screen reverts back to sign in again, never opening the actual email page.
