Your iPad may not be the first device you think when you want to make a call but it can certainly do the job. There’s a great app called Whistle that will allow you to make free calls or your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
Whistle brings mobile VoIP calling with you anywhere you can receive a WiFi or 3G signal. You can call anyone in the continental US from anywhere in the world absolutely FREE.
Before you make the call there will be about a 30 second advertisement or the is a option to get a ad free version for a small fee.
This app could come in handy in a number of occasions. If someone wants to save on minutes, maybe the main phone is being used / not working or maybe you just don’t want to get off the couch.
