Most people were surprised by the lack of a camera for the iPad but the lack of a camera provides an opportunity for third party manufactures.
The first has been spotted and it’s by a company named Photofast. The Photofast webcam plugs in to the iPad’s 30 pin connector and sits on a flat surface near the iPad. It’s a 2MP still camera and promises 640×480 video streaming in messaging apps. The Photofast webcam is expect to go on sale later this year.
Manufacturers should hurry if they want to take advantage of this opportunity because with the announcement of FaceTime the next generation of iPad’s will no doubt have a built in camera.
